What's Included
The Skysize free tier is completely free and includes:
- No credit card required to get started
- 1 worker with limited CPU/RAM
- 10 GB storage per project
- 7-day daily backups for data protection
- Automatic sleep when inactive to save resources
- Full access to core Skysize features
Free Tier Limitations
To keep the free tier sustainable, the following restrictions apply:
- 1 Odoo user maximum: Only one active user is allowed. If your instance exceeds this limit, you have a 7-day grace period to reduce the user count before your project is suspended.
- No custom domains: Your project runs on a Skysize subdomain (
project-name.skysize.io) only. Custom domains require a subscription. - Cloudflare proxy always enabled: The Cloudflare proxy cannot be disabled on free tier. If your domain provider requires a direct connection, you will need a subscription.
- No staging environments: Only production and development branches are available.
- Limited resources: 1 worker with reduced CPU/RAM allocation.
- Storage cap: 10 GB maximum per project.
- Backup retention: 7 days (vs. 3 months on paid tiers).
Sleep Behavior
Free tier instances automatically sleep after 15 minutes of inactivity to reduce resource usage.
How It Works
- When your instance has no incoming requests for 15 minutes, it scales down to zero.
- The next request wakes the instance back up. A "Waking up…" page is shown to the user while the instance starts.
- Startup typically takes a few seconds to a minute depending on your Odoo application.
Impact
- Expected for free tier: Sleep and wake cycles are a normal part of the free tier experience.
- Not suitable for production use cases where instant response times are required.
- Upgrade to a paid subscription to keep your instance always running.
Inactivity Policy
To keep the platform efficient, free tier deployments that have been inactive for 30 days are automatically deleted.
- Inactivity is measured by the last user login in your Odoo instance.
- You will receive advance notice before deletion.
- Your project and account are not deleted — only the deployment. You can redeploy at any time.
- Logging in regularly resets the inactivity timer.
