Outbound Traffic

Outbound traffic (also called egress) is what your project sends to the internet. Skysize measures it for every project on managed hosting and shows it in your project settings.

What counts

SourceWhat it is
Website and APIPages, files and API responses your Odoo instance sends to visitors and integrations, and the calls your instance makes to other services.
Backup downloadsBackup archives downloaded from the Backups tab.
Off-site copiesBackups copied to your own bucket with off-site copies.

Traffic coming in (uploads, imports, requests received) is not counted. Traffic between your instance and its database is not counted either.

The count covers every branch of the project (production, staging and development) and starts again on the first day of each month (UTC).

See your usage

Open your project, then Settings, and look for the Outbound traffic card next to the storage cards. It shows:

  • what the project has sent this month,
  • the split by source (website and API, backup downloads, off-site copies),
  • the date the count starts again.

Fair use

Outbound traffic is included in all plans under fair use. No limit is enforced and nothing is billed for it today. If a project's traffic is unusually high, we will contact you first.

Reduce your outbound traffic

  • Off-site copies: copy less often. A monthly copy of a 50 GB backup sends 50 GB; a weekly copy sends about 200 GB.
  • Backup downloads: download the backup you need instead of several.
  • Integrations: check scheduled exports and synchronisations that send large files or full data sets on every run.
  • Website: compress large images and documents served from your Odoo website.

Bring Your Own Server

The outbound traffic of projects on your own server is not measured by Skysize.

When you download a backup or a log file of these projects, the dashboard gives you a direct link when it can:

  • a link to your bucket, for backups stored in a bucket;
  • a link served by your server itself under the branch's HTTPS domain, when that domain points straight at your server.

Otherwise, the file is streamed to you through Skysize.
